Camp Can Do
Thursday and Friday June 15th & 16th, 2017
Because of some changes in the State Services Departments, Camp Can Do will be just 2 days this summer. We hope to return it to a full week in 2018. Despite the shortened time frame, we will pack those two days with lots of cool activities.
Camp Can-Do is specifically designed for blind and visually impaired children aged 6-12. It has been successfully running every summer since 2001. Camp Can-Do prides itself on allowing campers to have a full YMCA Camp Carter experience like any other child! Activities include specially designed interactive hiking trails, swimming, canoeing, skeet shooting, riflery and the giant swing… oh and horses too! YMCA Camp Carter works closely with the State Division of Blind Services to provide staff and volunteer training and curriculum assistance.
With the help of volunteers, Camp Carter staff and staff from the Division of Blind Services, we are able to provide close to a 1:1 ratio for each Camp Can Do child. This allows them to try lots of cool camp activities.
If you would like to volunteer for Camp Can Do, please download the Volunteer Application and return it to Camper@ymcafw.org
